What Happens in a Tapping Session?

If you’ve never done EFT before — or any emotional support work — here’s the most important thing to know:

You don’t need to perform to be supported.

You don’t need to know what to say. You don’t need to believe in tapping. You just need to show up as you are — even if that means showing up scared, numb, unsure, or guarded.

A typical first session might include:

  • A few grounding breaths or a gentle check-in
  • A simple question like, “What’s here right now that you’d like to soften?”
  • Gentle tapping sequences that follow your body’s cues — not a script

Some clients arrive with a clear intention. Others don’t know what they need, only that something feels heavy, stuck, or “off.” Both are welcome. All of you is welcome.

This Work Is Trauma-Informed and Nervous-System-Led

You will never be pushed to relive trauma, reveal your life story, or go where you don’t feel safe going.

“I don’t want to go there.”

“Can we pause?”

“I don’t know what I’m feeling right now.”

That’s not a disruption — that’s part of the process. In our work together, your system leads. I follow.

EFT helps your body and brain start to feel safe again — not by force, but by offering signals of safety, one tap at a time.

What You’ll Leave With

After our session, I’ll usually offer a small integration practice:

  • a calming phrase to revisit
  • a follow-up tapping prompt
  • or a micro-action your body feels ready for
